Land Sales Research Specialist Position

Steigerwaldt Land Services, Inc., a leading Lake States consulting firm specializing in forest management, forestland appraisal, right-of-way appraisals and acquisitions, and GIS services is accepting applications for a Land Sales Research Specialist position. A Land Sales Research Specialist works under the direction of a project manager or other senior staff member. The primary job duty will be to identify, investigate, verify, and describe recent sales of land that qualify for inclusion in our in-house comparable sales database. These land sales are used in various real estate appraisal projects. The position will be located in Tomahawk, Wisconsin. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Resources, Geography, GIS, or a closely related field
• Desire to develop a career in real estate appraisal, in a fast-paced and diverse consulting business
• Ability to work independently in varied settings both in the field and with clients and other professionals
• Superior written and oral communication skills
• Ability to locate land using legal descriptions, plat books, topographic maps, and aerial photographs
• Interest and/or experience in statistics and real estate trends
• Competent with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Access
• Experience searching Multiple Listing Service (MLS) or similar database on the internet
• Experience with GPS data collecting and processing
• Experience with ESRI ArcView software and GIS mapping
• Ability to travel and work away from the Tomahawk office for two to three nights at a time
• Personal vehicle suitable for travel (mileage is reimbursed)
• Interest in professional organizations, further education, and developing working relationships with professional appraisers and real estate agents

Forester Position

From time to time SLS hires graduate foresters for limited full time forestry positions. These positions typically are for field inventory or related field oriented projects. If you would be interested in this type of work, please forward a resume. Full time staff foresters are often hired from positions that have worked for SLS in the past on a limited basis. The position will be located in Tomahawk, Wisconsin. The ideal candidate would meet the following criteria:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry
• Desire to develop a career as a professional forester in a fast-paced and diverse consulting business
• Experienced in Lake States forest inventory practices
• Experienced in Lake States forest management and harvesting techniques
• Ability to work independently in varied settings both in the field and with clients and other professionals
• Superior written and oral communication skills
• Competent with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Access
• Experience with GPS data collecting and processing
• Experience with ESRI ArcView 8.x GIS software and GIS mapping and data collection principles
• Ability to travel and work away from the Tomahawk office for two to three nights per week on average
• Personal vehicle suitable for forestry work (mileage is reimbursed)
• Interest in involvement in professional organizations to further education and develop working relationships with other professional foresters

A Real Estate Appraiser – R/W Acquisition Specialist works under the direction of a Project Manager or other senior staff member. The position will be located in Tomahawk, Wisconsin. The ideal candidate will possess the following criteria:

• Wisconsin Certified General Appraiser License (Certified Residential License will be considered)
• Desire to develop a career as a professional appraiser and negotiator in a fast-paced and diverse consulting business
• Experience in highway and utility appraisals and acquisitions
• Ability to work independently in varied settings both in the field and with clients and other professionals
• Superior written and oral communication skills
• Competent with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Access
• Ability to travel and work away from the Tomahawk office for two to three nights at a time
• Personal vehicle suitable for travel (mileage is reimbursed)
